Abby and I were supposed to go to Salt Lake the first week of December, but the ice storm hit and rescheduled our trip for us. But we still got to go, just later, which changed things up a bit. Oh well, such is life.
When we arrived at the air port we visited with Frank and Janet and some of Janet's family. One of the reasons we had planned the trip was to go to Janet's family Christmas party - but the ice took that from us :(. Janet was so excited to show Abby off to her family so they brought lunch to us to eat at the air port before Frank and Janet flew back to Texas a few hours later. It was fun to get to spend time with them all!
My best friend Wendy picked us up from the air port and we went with her to her house in Midway. We had stayed with them a few days when Abby was brand new and Wendy gave us a baby shower. It was so fun to be with her again. Wendy and I have been friends since we were crawling. I'm so grateful to have her in my life. We didn't do a ton while we were together. We visited the Homestead Crater, which was kind of cool. We went to their ward (church congregation) Christmas party, and talked a lot. You know how you sometimes have friends that it doesn't matter how long it's been since you talked or have seen each other, when you're together you're always comfortable and at home. That's how Wendy is - we're basically sisters.
Abby with Wendy's hilarious son Dash
Wendy took this one - don't you love her serious face?
The next day she dropped us off at my sister Emily's house in Highland. My niece was there too and we all went out to eat at a yummy Mexican place. It was fun and I was so glad I got to spend some time with my niece, Michaelanne.
Thursday (the next day) Emily had set up a progressive breakfast with friends in her neighborhood so Abby and I joined in with that. It was really fun. The ladies were all nice, the food was great, and I loved seeing all their different houses and how they decorated for Christmas! We just spent the rest of the day hanging out with Emily and her family. Abby LOVES cousin time and Emily's kids are all really good with her. It is so fun watching them play together!
Abby and her cute cousin Luke
Friday morning Abby and I went to breakfast with one of my BYU roommates who I haven't seen since my wedding and one of my mission companions who I haven't seen in 8 years or something (a long time.) It was so fun to see them and catch up!!!! That afternoon after Emily's kids got out of school we drove down to Cedar City to see my parents and Jenny's family - most importantly Jenny's new baby Isaac! Abby was the first cousin to hold him and she loved it so much! She loves babies and will hold them as long as someone lets her.
Holding Isaac
Saturday we just spent time with the family - playing, holding Isaac, sledding. It was so fun, and then we drove back to Highland.
Snow Baby
Sunday morning we flew out. That was our trip - so fun to get to see family and friends!
