Abby's First Halloween

We spent several days celebrating Halloween with Abby. We had to wait so long to have a kid and have been so excited to get to celebrate holidays with her. She loved 4th of July because she loves lights and so loved the fireworks. We went to see fire works on 3 occasions and she was completely enthralled the whole time. (Penny, our dog, was a different story. She HATES fireworks.) I am not sure how Abby will feel about fireworks next year, but this year it was so much fun to watch her watch them. I love Halloween - I just think it is fun. I like decorating for it, I like seeing the kids, and I loved trick-or-treating, though I haven't gone in years. Since Abby is so little we didn't really do a whole lot of trick-or-treating this year. We just went to her biological grandparents and a few neighbors. Ryan's parents and sister came over and stayed at our house to great the kids while we were out and so Abby could trick-or-treat to them as well. Because Abby is so cute we also did a few Halloween photo shoots. Enjoy!

Almost every time we are out someone comments not only on how cute Abby is, but also on how cute her clothes are. We have bought her a 3-pack of onsies, 2 nighties, and a dress the day we found out that we'd get to be her parents, and one dress since then. Everything else she has is either gifts from showers or hand-me-downs (mostly from my sister - these clothes make up about 60-75% of her wardrobe). This cute little outfit is one of those hand me downs. The bracelets/anklets she is wearing were made by another of my sisters. And the socks were given to her by Ryan's mom. So adorable!

Abby received a Halloween package from my mom - she got teething keys and some squeezable food. She was excited - she loved the envelope too!

I made a Halloween themed dinner including baked brains (meatloaf), ghosts (mashed potatoes), goblin boogers (peas), witches fingers (shaped biscuits with almond slices for nails), and coagulated blood (tomato soup). It was quite tasty and fun.

Isn't she the cutest little butterfly in the world. The costume was another hand-me-down from my sister.

And Abby's first house to trick-or treat. She did a good job holding on to her bucket. Cathy, her biological grandma, gave her a cute sock monkey that plays peek-a-boo and then laughs so cutely. She loved it!

I think Abby enjoyed her first Halloween. I know I did.
